Conspiracy Theories
O Allah, let us see the truth as the truth and follow it;
and let us see the falsehood as the falsehood and avoid it.
A widespread conspiracy theory – also among some Muslims – is the claim of a flat earth. It is sometimes (falsely) asserted that Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz declared many years ago that belief in a flat earth was obligatory, since even the companions of the Prophet believed in it. Others even claim that the Koran itself hints at this, for example in Surah 79:30.
It is true that many so-called scientific findings should be critically examined and that news of our time is often shaped by opinions and interests. But this justified skepticism must not swing into the other extreme: namely to suspect a conspiracy behind everything and everyone and to get so deeply absorbed in certain ideas that one literally cannot see the forest for the trees. Especially in Da'wah, it is wise to treat certain topics with caution. For the last thing we want to achieve is that outsiders say: "Whoever believes in Islam also believes in a flat earth."
In fact, it is very easy to show that the earth is not flat. Unfortunately, however, one often finds that people who have already spent a long time with corresponding theories on the internet have difficulty allowing simple common-sense considerations. A similar phenomenon can also be observed when people are strongly bound to a particular group or worldview: Even the most obvious arguments hardly get through – they go in one ear and out the other. Sometimes, however, one is lucky and can get someone to reconsider their position. So let us try.
Let us imagine a round table that is supposed to represent the allegedly "flat earth". The point in the middle symbolizes the North Pole. Exactly halfway between this center and the edge of the table runs the equator. Today we know something that people did not know before: At the equator, the sun is always directly above us at noon. In addition, the sun is visible somewhere on earth at any given time – over the entire 24 hours.
Now take a sphere or ball of any size representing the sun and let it circle above the "equator". No matter how high we hold the ball or how large or small it is, it can never disappear behind the edge of the table, as we observe daily with the sun. With a flat earth, the sun would have to become above the horizon smaller and smaller in the evening and also turn further and further towards the north, but never simply disappear behind the edge at full size. It would also have to become gradually darker and not so relatively abruptly as with a sunset.
Whoever will not be convinced by this literally illuminating argument will naturally no longer be convinced by the countless other arguments, such as lunar eclipses; things that disappear below the horizon at a greater distance; time zones; parallax; constellations and their movements; missing South Pole, circumnavigations like the Vendee Globe and shipping lines from South America to New Zealand; earthquakes and seismic waves, and so on and so forth. But whoever does not want to think much can also wait until the sun has just set on the horizon and then let a drone rise into the air. The sun will reappear. Images from space I have omitted for now, because then we would be directly at the next conspiracy theory, the moon landing!
Why is this topic important for us at all? In daily life, it does not matter whether the earth is flat or round or whether people were on the moon.
Because conspiracy and cover-up do exist! It is the age of the Dajjal, the lord and master of lies! And we should of course recognize when possible what is true and what is not. One should also ask oneself whether one is perhaps wasting too much time on unverifiable theories, and when it is worth standing up for the "truth", but when it is perhaps the wrong strategy.
A theory like the "flat earth" usually elicits a rather amused frown. On the one hand, because the topic – apart from its adherents – has no great significance for most people. On the other hand, because the claim can be relatively easily refuted in a calm and factual manner.
With topics like COVID-19, on the other hand, the situation looks quite different. Here discussions can quickly become emotional. Whoever does not want to wear a mask or be vaccinated, for example, often finds himself confronted with sharp criticism. Not infrequently, the accusation is then made that it is a "pandemic of the unvaccinated".
The tone quickly becomes heated because it is a topic that directly affects the lives of all people. Unlike the flat earth theory, however, the question here can hardly be easily verified by the layperson through his own considerations. Most people are forced to rely on authorities – on state institutions, scientific institutions or experts who are considered reliable sources.
When many states take similar measures and numerous scientists speak of a "consensus", the impression of a unified scientific position easily arises. At the same time, it can happen that dissenting voices – even if they come from well-known scientists, professors or former government advisors – are strongly criticized or marginalized in public debate. In such situations, considerable social pressure often arises to join the prevailing opinion, while dissenters encounter resistance or rejection.
With the topic of the Holocaust, the fun then stops completely! Whoever suspects a conspiracy here is directly confronted with Section 130 of the German Criminal Code, which punishes Holocaust deniers with imprisonment of 6 months to 3 years. As one can see, the caring authorities protect one from becoming a victim of extremist propagandists like the 95-year-old Ursula Haverbeck, who dared to claim that Auschwitz was a labor and not an extermination camp. For this she was then sentenced to one year and four months in prison. But she cleverly evaded this punishment by dying.
So one does not need to conduct lengthy discussions with Holocaust deniers like with the flat earthers, one simply calls the police. So that they know who is boss!
Whoever is reminded here of the Inquisition and witch hunts does the matter an injustice. Haverbeck was not tortured! It is said that Obersturmbannführer Rudolf Höß and other SS men had their testicles crushed before the Nuremberg war crimes tribunals and were threatened that their families would be killed if they did not confess, but hehe - conspiracy theories - and unappetizing ones at that!
Holocaust deniers often emphasize that they do not deny that the Nazi regime persecuted certain groups, including Jews. They also concede the deprivation of civil rights, the existence of ghettos and concentration camps for Jews, and mass deaths therein. However, they deny targeted, systematically planned and carried out mass murders of Jews with the goal of their extermination. They claim, for example, that the extermination camps were merely transit camps or labor camps, where only regime and war opponents were interned. Mass deaths were due to epidemics and accidental consequences of war.
On amazon.de there is a volume with historical documents that documents the internal instructions of the SS camp administration to the guard personnel of Auschwitz. In its wealth of detail, an impressive testimony to the "everyday life" of the SS on over 600 pages. Unfortunately, not a single word about gassings! Which leads many readers in the customer reviews to the opinion that gassings could not have existed. One who has probably never heard of §130 even writes: "The publication of the commandant's orders after so long a time is a scandal. The mendacious historiography taught for the purpose of blackmailing Germany is hereby once again unmasked as the greatest and most lasting lie of recent centuries. Later generations will ask how an entire people could be lied to for so long." 115 people found this comment helpful!
For the normal hobby conspiracy theorist, this book at 174.95 euros is probably too expensive, but he can also fall back on materials freely available on the internet such as the Leuchter Report or "David Cole interviews Dr. Franciszek Piper" or the anti-Islamic series "Europa - The last battle". One may assume that the authorities will soon let the volume disappear into oblivion anyway, because it throws a slanted look at a historical image that is beyond any doubt and legally anchored.
For Muslims, who constantly have to experience the reversal of the perpetrator-victim role by Israel in the Palestine conflict, the temptation is of course great to question the Holocaust, because without the Holocaust there would certainly be no anti-Semitism club and probably not the state of Israel in its present form, let alone the support of this apartheid regime by Germany. But strategically speaking, to put it cautiously, it is very unwise.
Enough people worldwide, and especially in Germany, are fed up with Zionists always wanting to silence any criticism of Israel and the ethnic cleansing taking place in Palestine by referring to the Holocaust and trying to brand even the UN and the International Criminal Court as anti-Semitic. That is simply ridiculous! Even German politicians like Gysi and otherwise system-loyal magazines like DER SPIEGEL are beginning, perhaps forced, to change their tone. This shift in sympathy is dearly bought through the victims of the Palestinians. One should not ruin this by stirring up old wounds. Only too quickly can sympathies tip again.
InshaAllah, for every child killed in Gaza, some people embrace Islam. Their sacrifice will not have been in vain. There are said to be three times more conversions to Islam since the beginning of the Gaza war.
With the atrocity propaganda we have won the war. And we are just getting started! We will continue this atrocity propaganda, we will escalate, until no one wants to hear even a good word about the Germans, until all sympathies they may still have abroad are destroyed and they themselves will be so confused that they no longer know what they are doing. When that is achieved, when they begin to destroy their own country and their own people, and not reluctantly but with the zeal to please the victor, only then will our victory be complete.
It will never be final. Re-education must be carefully cultivated, like an English lawn. Even a moment of negligence, and the weeds sprout again - the indestructible weed of historical truth.
